[newspaper article]
Phoebe Omlie Is In First Position Of Nation Dash

Contestants in the transcontinental air derby will arrive in Cleveland this afternoon.
Mrs. Gladys O'Donnell, Long Beach, Cal., veteran aviatrix, damaged the wing of her plant when it hit a post while landing at Terre Haute, Ind., yesterday. She was leading the procession when the flyers landed at the Indiana city. The accident delayed her departure until repairs were made.
Phoebe Omlie held first place in the standings of the racers in the last lap of the flight.
The flyers are due to arrive form Dayton, O., today. Yesterday afternoon they flew from East St. Louis, Ill., to Terre Haute, and then on to Dayton. Mrs. O'Donnell was the first to land at both East St. Louis and Terre Haute, with Mrs. Omlie coming in second.
Fifty men and women are in the derby.
