c/o Gilmore Oil Company

Dear Mrs. Charles:

Your letter was most gratifying. Really I did not expect you to go to all the trouble which you have so graciously volunteered to do. However, I am most happy that is possible for you to get an autographed picture of Miss Earhart for us to add to our collection. All though I have heard Miss Earhart and attended a banquet at which she was the honored guest and having the privilege of sitting near her at the Rotary Club in Los Angeles a few years ago, I do not feel I know her and rather hesitate in asking favors. Your description of her is very good, and I certainly wish I could have the pleasure of meeting her personally again sometime

This is indeed a real service, and I am personally most grateful to you and the Gilmore Oil Company. If through your connection with famous aviators and aviatrixes it will be possible for you to get their pictures and have it personally autographed for us for our collection, it would be very worth while. Only the leaders in the field of aviation are we interested in. I am looking forward to the time when we can have a real exhibit in our College Library of these leaders in this field. We have fond hopes of getting Col. Lindbergh's picture from him. Because of so much personal trouble it is doubtful if we shall be permitted to ever do this, however. I am looking forward to sometime achieving this real privilege.

With kindest personal regards, I am again thanking you for the several courtesies and favors you have extended us.

Very sincerely yours,
Charles L. Ruby
