CRASH KILLS MILLIONAIRE

Airplane Pilot Also Dies

Harry Williams, Husband of Marguerite Clark, Falls Near Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE (La.) May 19. (AP) Harry Williams, husband of the former Marguerite Clark, star of the silent films, and Johnnie Wortham, his pilot, were killed late tonight when their plane crashed near here.
The plane had just taken off from the Parish Airport here. Witnesses said it failed to gain altitude, went into a spin and nose dived through a wooded section.
Williams, millionaire Louisiana sportsman and aviation enthusiast, airheaded the Wedell-Williams airplane building company and financed the exploits of the late Jimmy Wedell, speed flyer.
Williams had been at the State House tonight, where the Legislature is in session, and had told E. P. Roy, head of the Louisiana Highway Patrol, that he planned to leave by plane, presumably for Patterson, La., or New Orleans.
Williams formerly was connected with large lumber mills at Patterson and maintained his airplane factory there.
The bodies were brought to a mortuary here where authorities said they were positively identified as those of Williams and Wortham.
