Hawks Changes His Plane Base

DANBURY (Ct.) Feb. 23. (AP)-Capt. Frank Hawks, the speed flyer, has abandoned his plan to use this city as a base and starting point for his 18,500-mile flight to map the course of the international air races this summer, it was disclosed today.

The pilot, who flew his new plane from Los Angeles in a one-stop flight a few days ago, has taken the ship to Newark, N.J., after finding it too large for the airport hangar here.
