Dear Mrs. Gutten:

I was extremely sorry not to have been able to come to your Cocktail Party yesterday, but I heard about it, unfortunately, a little late and already had two dates to keep.

It was very nice of you, indeed, to think of me and I do hope that I shall have the pleasure of seeing you very soon again.

May I call on you shortly, and which day would be most convenient?

With best wishes,

Please believe me to be - as always,

Yours very respectfully,

(C. M. de Hauke)
