Is there any law or orders prohibiting a "Freedman" from having firearms in his possession. This information I desire as it is reported to be a frequent occurrance to take guns away from "Freedman" In some Cases, I have ordered the parties who took away Guns from Freedmen to return them, particularly in Cases of Discharged Cold Soldiers as I considered they were entitled to retain the Guns they so honorable used in defense of their Country. And as the U.S, Govt. permitted them to purchase their Guns & equipments no local laws or customs should deprive them of that which the U.S. Govt. told them.
