To meet the wants of the Colored Baptist Church at Beaufort North Carolina, who have hitherto worshipped in a building owned by the White Baptists, and now occupied by them, I hereby at their request make application for one of the Hospital Buildings at Morehead City, North Carolina, belonging to the Government and for which I offer the Sum of ($50) Fifty Dollars for the purpose of removing it to Beaufort N.C. and refitting it for their use as a House of Worship

We the undersigned parties have the honor to apply for a piece or track of land lying in the County Of Carteret and on the west side of North River and near the head of said River. This piece of land was granted to us by the State as you will find by reference to the Copy of the Patent. A small portion of said land has Turpentine trees and are now under the control of the Freedmens Bureau. This was open or State land we entered it and procured a Patent from the State, a copy of which are hereby transmit asking for the possession or the withdrawal of the possession or the right of possession of the Freedmens Bureau. We have taken the Oath prescribed by the Presidents Proclamation of 1865 and we come under no legal disabilities a Copy of Said Oath we hereby enclose
