Sir
I have the honor to herewith transmit to you the affadavit of [[underlined]] Henry B. Clay [[/underlined]] Freedmen. It seems he is the victim of a drunken man and while he is taking care of him is made to answer for his offenses. All that he now asks is that his wifes Box of goods be sent to Rome Ga free of charge, which I think ought to be done as she was on the train and was recognized at the time. I cannot conceive the right of any one to take them. I hope this matter will be sent to the proper authorities and the person or persons holding the goods be made to forward them free of expenses.

I am Very Respectfully your Obed Servt
