NC which is Abandoned property and in charge of the Bureau it can be had for a Hospital and is now vacant and has been for some time. There will be sufficient room for 30 beds with a good Kitchen and Garden attached. The expense of renovation will not reach $25.00, as we have sufficient material to whiten the building. There are fifteen times more dependents in and around Beaufort than at Morehead City. The expense from Beaufort to the Hospital for transportation alone amounts to nearly $12.00 per month which could be saved if the Hospital was on this side

Respectfully referred to Capt Richard Dillon VRC Asst Supt with the information that I forwarded Returns for Rations for the side and attendants of the Freedmans Hospital of this Sub. District on the 11th inst for 10 days ending the 20th inst. Heretofore the Post at Fort Macon furnished the hospital.

As to the Abstracts which Lieut Kendall complains of not being signed when he sent it to me for signature I returned it to him for correction as he required by noting on the Margin in lead pencil as per enclosed paper marked "[[D? L?]]" were the errors were

I could not sign the Abstract until it was correct it was not my fault that it was delayed.

The patients and attendants are without rations and as there is no hospital fund in my possession I respectfully request that you will furnish me with meat and meal out of Rations you may have on hand for them
