Being deprived of the pleasure of hunting by order of the late Comdg. Genl. of this District, and not having heard of the order being officially revoked,  I would very respectfully request of you a written permit to use a fowling pair for bird hunting on the marshes and Shoals of the Harbor of Beaufort.

Respectfully forwarded to [[strikethrough]] Bvt [[/strikethrough]] 1st Lt. Thos [[Wilhelson?]] Post Adjt. with recommendation that the within Application be granted not alone to the applicants, but that all persons may be permitted to hunt for game in the following places Viz:- The Marshes in the harbor of Beaufort Shackleford bank, Harkers Island, Seagrass Davis Shore, Hunting quarters, and Portsmouth, all of these mentioned places are seperated from the Mainland. The persons who will avail themselves of this priviledge are well disposed people, they have heretofore followed

fowling as a means of living. There are large quantities of game in these places. [[These?]] have furnished the markets of Beaufort and New Bern with game

General

The undersigned is owner of a certain tract of land in the County of Carteret No. Ca. known as Bogue Island a portion of which was seized as Abandoned land some time [[strikethrough]] which [[/strikethrough]] and described as follows, on Bogue Banks between the Sea and Sound bounded E. by Guthries land running west as far as long Shaw Pines extend 800 acres Turpentine lands leased to Isaac Burnett "freedman" I respectively ask that the above described lands be restored to me.
