Articles of Agreement made and entered into this twenty third day of April. A.D. 1868. between Brevet Major J.M. Brown, Disbursing Officer, Bureau Refugees Freedmen and Abandoned Lands of the one part, and N.S. Wright of the County of Alexandria, and the State of Virginia, of the other part.

This agreement witnesseth, That the said Brevet Major J.M. Brown D.O. Bureau Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands for and on behalf of the United States of America and the said N.S Wright, his heirs, executors, and administrators, have covenanted and agreed and by these presents do mutually covenant and agree to and with each other as follows; namely 

First . . . . That the said N.S. Wright, his heirs, executors and administrators shall furnish and deliver at Freedmens Village, Va. (1000) one thousand cords sound merchantable oak and pine cord wood, cut not less that (3) three months, in such proportions and quantities of each kind (not less than the (1/3) one-third of the entire amount in oak) and at such times as may be required by the Superintendent of Freedmens Village, Va., beginning on or before the first of May, 1868.

Second.... In consideration whereof the said N. S. Wright shall receive for each lot of (50) fifty cords furnished and delivered, as above, the sum of ($7.00) seven dollars per cord for oak, and ($6.00) six dollars per cord for pine, payment to be made
