Sir:-

I have the honor herewith to enclose report of Thos Wilson Esq. acting Attorney for me in the case of Wesley Bond charged with horse stealing with the final result sentence &c which adds but another to the long catalogue of outrageous cruelties practiced upon persons of color by the so called legal authorities of that state.

I am wholly at a loss to suggest a direct remedy. This is a case of greater hardship even than the one of Oscar Slater (colored) whom we defended in that Court and who was unjustly (and I believe maliciously) convicted ^[[against the evidence]] and sent to the Penitentiary for an offence afterwards confessed to have been committed by the Lisle murderers before their execution.
