of which we rented a building) were paid by one as [[?]] Sect & Agent of the Hartford Freedmen Aid Society. Mr. Cambridge time was spent, you understand, in receiving Freedmen here & caring for them while here & getting them situations here & there.

The three days labor in Nov put in to the enclosed Bill was just there because although the Department had notified Mr. Cambridge that they should employ him only till Oct 31st but the four Freedmen provided for in Nov. came here on transportation papers made out in October.
