Parkersburg W. Va.
Feb. 17 1868.

Mr. S. N. Clark
Washington D.C.

Sir, Your communication of Feb. 3d was duly received, and in reply would say that there is a cold man at the Swan Tavern by that name ^[[insertion]] Cyrus [[/insertion]] Bannister.

He has been there some time, never has been in a confectionery, is not married. He spends as he goes as near as I can learn. Am informed that he might keep his family if he would.

I am very Respectfully
Your Obt. Svt.
