The Subject Before The Bureau.

The subject or the management of the "Home" has been before the Bureau, and was put through. The complaint went to Gen. C. H. Howard, who disposed of it as follows:

WASHINGTON, Nov. 15 1867.
Respectfully referred to Bt. Maj. S. N. Clark A. A. Inspector Gen'l for remarks.-

BUREAU REFUGEES, FREEDMEN, & ABANDONED LANDS HEAD-QUARTERS ASST. COMMR., D. C.,
WASHINGTON, NOV, 16 1867

Respectfully returned.-

On the 7th inst., I made a personal inspection of the "Home" for freed children under charge of Mr. Wilson, though not with reference to any complaint of mismanagement.

The appearance of the children was good and they seemed contented. I do not believe they are ill treated; and there is every evidence apparently, that the Supt. and Matron are faithful and efficient in the discharge of their duties, and have great interest in the welfare of the children under their charge.

Possibly a person with daily opportunities of observation might, if disposed, find some cause of complaint, but there is not in my opinion any necessity for investigation at present.

S. N. CLARK.
1st Lieut. 54th U. S. C. R. Bt. Major and A. A. Insp'r Genl.

BUREAU REFUGEES, FREEDMEN, & ABANDONED LANDS
HEAD-QUARTERS ASST. COMMR. D. C.,
WASHINGTON NOV. 18 1867.

Respectfully returned to Henry M. Wilson, Supt. of Home for Freed Children Brooklyn, N.Y.

In view of the above endorsement further action by this Bureau is deemed unnessary.
C.H. HOWARD,

Bt. Brig. Genl. Assist Commr.
This ought to put a quietus on the mouths of all but ignorant fools, who in their madness know not what they say, nor do; [[?]] they find themselves in limbo.
