[[underlined]] Thomas N. [[/underlined]] C. B. Chairman of [[underlined]] Commce app'td to investigate charges of cruelty to inmates of Brooklyn "Home for freed children"

Encloses abstract from the Peoples Journal of 23d inst, showing the disposition made by Genl. [[underlined]] C. H. Howard [[/underlined]] of the report submitted to him, claims on behalf of the cold people that further action be taken, as many who had been severely punished were not called upon to testify. Decries that Mr [[/underlined]] Wilson [[/underlined]] and the [[underlined]] Matron [[/underlined]] should be removed and requests the Commr to meet the [[underlined]] Board of Directors [[/underlined]] of the [[underlined]] Afr Civ Society [[/underlined]] to confer upon the subject 

Charges Mr [[underlined]] Wilson [[/underlined]] with motives of self interest and making a fictitious contract &c and further wishes to ascertain the opinion of the Commr as to the importance of the subject &c &c. Concurred in by members of the [[underlined]] Afr Civ Society. [[/underlined]]
