Lv. Bus stop at 10:00 PM Slow ride to Williams Field beyond Scott Base; just as we started up the truck lurched & I fell against the door handle & nearly down the steps.
The old field was getting slushy and seals beginning to emerge from holes. Flight in Hercules cargo plane w. a huge fuel tank over Transantarctic Mts & glaciers. Lv. ~ 11:30 Av. Darwin ~ 12:30 Night.
Passengers: Dean & I & ASU Group: Stump, Lowny, Colbert & 1
Jamesway Bunkens -- mixed company. Galley & Head Next Bldg.
Sunishi met Dean & me and led us to quarters; found last 2 bunks for us -- others had to hunt down extra cots.  Dramatic site w. glacier & mts. Fair sleep but cot cold underneath. Late abed w. day of rest. My down robe worth every penny as cover & tent.

[[underlined]] Dec. 19 [[/underlined]] Missed breakfast. Coffee later w. Ed Zollen. Laid plans for our work here w. Sunaishi - Helo recon [[toma?]] A light snow in PM. After supper - soccer game tried out Dean's boots to see if fit better than mine. AS result left foot aches badly - esp. the heel. After dinner whisky in radio room w G. Denton, Zeller and Helo pilot (Head Buffoon) Discuss meteorites and Glacial ise. Later talked w a U of Maine student from Waburn, Robert Ackent, who collected a small
