Took a long walk out onto ice field after dinner. [[Toponden??]] Yeans ahead & behind. A beautiful, still, evening. Took pictures of Tent City & the soccer game -- Movie: The Spiral Staircase. 2 Helos got to McM tomorrow but I failed to talk our way onto one of them. 
[[margin note]] Dec. 26 [[/margin note]] Slept late: At 10 AM the wind rose & soon after, light snow. Nothing is flying. Our German friends who have already waited 12 days to leave Darwin are still grounded -- one of them still in bed. Our main generator, which is 15 yrs old, has given out & we are on auxiliary power. Vic, a young N. Carolinian industrial electrical designer, nurses the power along w frequent dimming of lights etc.
[[margin note]] power shortage} [[/margin note]] This PM he had to place washing machine & showers off-limits  The dryer alone pulls more amperage than the present generator will allow. It is never used. -- Stayed in most all day - Wrote notes to AGI friends: read Scott book. I had great curiosity and all the wrong expectations about Kathleen Scott. She was a 1920s woman w. great ability & a happy character. Scott was remarkably insecure. At 4:30 got a radio message from Cassidy relayed thru S.Pole. He is going on to the Allan Hills now & we are to catch up when we can. [[Shinishi??]] told him we have finished our project at Darwin w 21 meteorites. After a little more discussion  I said we were awaiting the 1st flight out of Darwin. Bill congratulated us & signed off. 
Evening movie "Inside Out" Nazi gold bars retrieved from secret bunker by German & American con men. 

[[margin note]] Dec. 27 [[/margin note]] In AM, Dave, camp manager advised us to pack up all our scientific & other impersonal gear to be palletized for next [[??]] flight to McM. One helo came from McM today & carried off Zeller's Germans: Wolf   +  . Other helo took Denton into the field. We are finished. There is more snow on the surrounding mts than we have seen before: wind & snow are blowing & sky half-overcast. But no new snow falling.  In earlier AM I did some hand laundry & had
