Grand Jury To Consider Two Cases

Hornell - The term of Steuben County Court here was adjourned Friday following the conclusion of a criminal negligence trial until Tuesday, Oct. 27, when trial work will be resumed by County Judge Clarence H. Brisco.

The grand jury, which served last month during the fall term of Supreme Court here, will be reconvened Monday by direction of Dist. Atty. Domenick L. Gabrielli of Bath. The prosecutor petitioned Justice Carroll Roberts of Rochester for the recall of the grand jury to deal with two cases which arose after the grand jury had reported last month.

One case involves a migrant being held in connection with the death of a man following a fight in a Cohocton migrant camp.

The second case involves a gambling charge which arose from the seizure of four slot machines in Corning recently.

Due to the fact that Gabrielli has to be with the grand jury when in session and also is the prosecuting attorney for criminal trials, adjournment of County Court was necessary.

The criminal negligence trial concluded Friday was the District Attorney's first trial since he took office.
