Knee-Hi knows a safe place to play when she sees it! This was her practical message to a group of Mrs. Violet Brueckel's kindergarten pupils at School 30 as the puppy happily joined in the recreation period today.

An especially warm, and practical, welcome planned by the more than 500 pupils of School 30 in Otis St. greeted Knee-Hi this morning when The Times-Union's safety-teaching dog made her appearance there.

After demonstrating her high-priority rules of safety in two assemblies arranged by Mrs. Sabra Harris, principal, the little puppy was presented several gifts, including cans of food. And this two-verse bit of prose, written by children of Miss Elizabeth Petty's Third Grade was read by Joyce Santillo of 104 Delmar St., a pupil in the grade:

Knee-Hi you work so very hard,
We decided not to send a card,
But, instead a little treat,
We think you will be glad to eat.

It was kind of you to go to our schools,
To demonstrate your safety rules.
We shall remember these rules you've taught us,
And try to obey them without making a fuss.

Later in the day the wire-haired terrier and her master, George E. (Doc) Brunson, were introduced to a radio audience in a guest appearance on Roberta's program over Station WARC at 12:45 p.m. Blanche Stewart Scott, a member of aviation's Early Birds group and radio personality, known professionally as Roberta, interviewed Brunson, giving her listeners highlights of the safety campaign and its star's life.

Another busy day is in prospect for Knee-Hi tomorrow, her schedule indicates. In addition to demonstrations at School 20, 54 Oakman St., in the morning, and Ridgewood School, 2222 Ridge Rd. E., at 2 p.m., the safety dog will be guest of honor at two non-school functions. They include a luncheon of the Safety Council at Kodak Park's new recreation building, 12:15 p.m., and a Father and Son banquet at Genesse Baptist Church, Brooks Ave., at 6:30.
