State of Virginia Fairfax County, to wit: This day, M. Dulaney Ball personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace for the County aforesaid, & made oath that, in the fall of 1860, he sold to F.H. Janney, of the said County, the wood standing on a portion of his land, near Lewinsville, in said County; that the said F.H. Janney paid him for the said wood, but that he had not removed it from the land in the summer of 1861; — & he believes that the said wood was cut & used by the U.S. authorities. & that the said F.H. Janney did not get possession of it. - & further that the loss to the said F.H. Janney mounted to at least sixty (60.) cords of good wood.
