Last night at bedtime the sky was white and the land was white. Between heaven and earth was light snow & a v. light wind. I could not even see the Allan Hills. I do not remember any similar evening.

The t. was 44°f in the tent--seemed v. cozy. At night I awoke and found myself sweltering. Took off my down-stuffed top & wished to remove bivouac pants, but was too lazy. Found my parka over me & stuffed that aside.

Awoke at 7 but had no expectation of going out. Asleep and dreaming at 7:50 when John Sebutt Stepped to our entrance and said "Good morning". We had asked him to awaken us in good time when we are going out. We find we need 1 1/2 hours to get ready to go. Prime & light stoves -- water for coffee & oatmeal - clean up - dress - toilet; take cover off snowmobile & give it a trial spin.
At night after a day out it is the reverse: we dine to the fuel dump & fill up w. gas' then park near our tent. Then collect foods for supper, breakfast, lunch & go into tent. Prime & light stoves, etc. etc.

Today we went to a high ice field out west where Cassidy reported finding meteorites by helo. He never told Sebutt about it but John

read it in Bill's article in Antarctic Journal. It was a long drive out there - at rt [[?]] to the [[?]]. Rough. 3 times John stopped for us to wave our arms & jump up & down. Then we swept the icefield w an orderly grid. 3 of us ~ 150' apart to his right going one way, then a big wheel to swing back as the rt hand end person followed the same track back to the [[/]] side. We examined acres of rippled ice barren of meteorites. Early on, however, we found a large one: ~ 10 lbs & v. magnetic. featureless like a diogenite. I saw it when John did but it was on his traverse. Later he found sev. meteorites -- a good eye & good placement. I found a handsome one w. thumb prints and fusion crust -- plus 1 or 2 weathered chips. John is sighting in all of these - paces distances and meas. angles.

By mid-pm the clouds were closing in & the wind up. John thought we were far from home for weather like that. Yet we made another sweep and found more meteorites -- then the long traverse home. We drove slowly - rolling w the hummocks. Once I came upon a huge basin that could have trapped me - quickly drove around it. Some ice stretches allowed speeding up to [[?]] motor, but 20 m.p.h. was my limit. John found 2 more mete. as we trundled home past track rocks. We arrived ~ 5:00 - chilly -- for lst time in Ant. I got chilly on snomobile. Another 39 mile day. I have done 159 mi. So far on my m able
