& back to John. Then back to the meteorite & I [[underline]]almost[[/underline]] did not find it that time. 
It was small, in a ripple pit, farther from the flag than we supposed, and you had to be close. 
After we explored the N. ice field, John & Bill consulted and decided to climb Battlements Nunatak & search for a pass to blue ice fields beyond. That was an exciting prospect. Battlements, our skyline marker to the north should be explored. Even where we were we could see great angular masses of light material in the dark walls. 
As we left the ice field we got into crevassed territory - snow filled cracks a few inches to a foot or two criss-crossed the area. John ordered us to follow his track single file. Off we went with John in the lead, crossing cracks at right
