I had free time until about 4:00 p.m. when it would be time to rouse out and get my ticket home, my blue bag from USARP, leave one crutch, & go to the airport. Yesterday I supposed I would go downtown this a.m. but I felt no inspiration to move. Had breakfast, did final packing, read the paper, rested. Had a lunch -- salad bar & milk. Sat by the rose bushes beside the pool for awhile but sun was too brilliant. Tried calling Ferne again. Called C. Museum to get price of Harrenfield's book in case I order an autographed copy. [[F??ed]] with my cube.

About 3:45 I called a porter, checked out, and got a courtesy car ride to NSF Headquarters. My tickets had just arrived from town. We were awaiting the arrival of one other person and then we two would get a ride to the airport. (about 1/8 mile away)

On the NSF veranda I ran into 2 people I knew from McM. Dave, the photographer who had urged Cassie to loan me her telephoto lens for the Allan Hills trip, and Perry, the young medic of Woburn, Mass. Dave was the other home-bound passenger. From his connection w Perry, Dave obviously left Berg Ctr. & McM in a hurry. There had been harrassment by N.Z. officials at or from Scott Base. Dave & I were driven to airport by Miss... Well wishes included M. [[Lorzan??]] & rest of the staff.
Stopped at USARP issue & collected my blue down-stuffed bag & (loose) red sweater. Mr. Resnick & Miss... shoved it into the bag & zipped up after it.

At the airport Dave began helping me. Carried my 2 hand bags to counter & waited w. me. perused shops, sat & read. I bought an October Harpers & a NZ Feminist magazine,
