General — We beg to enclose Bill Lading of Barrel of "Phoenix Disinfectant", shipped to you this day pr Canal Line in accordance with the request made by Surgeon Horner to our Mr Napier last week.

We shall feel greatly obliged by your causing this sample to be [[underlined]] thoroughly [[/underlined]] tested, & think you will find it to be superior in every respect to Chloride of Lime, being more agreeable in use, more efficacious, and considerably cheaper, added to which, it will go farther, weight
