I am directed by the Act'g Asst. Commissioner to acknowledge the receipt of your communication of the 29th inst. asking information as to the names of parties now occupying certain buildings in this city, for which you are responsible, and requesting a copy of the order directing the same to be turned over, also a copy of the order, directing the building Corner of 14th and "M" Sts. to be taken down.

The two Barracks, known as "Soldiers' Rest" near B. & O.R.R. Depot, were turned over to Mrs. J.C. Smith, Mrs D.A. Hall & Mrs. J.C. Carlisle, Managers, "National Soldiers and Sailors, Orphans' Home," July 9th 1866, by order of Bvt. Brig. Genl. C.H. Howard (Copy enclosed)
