Assistant Quartermaster's Office, Depot of Washington, No. 151 G Street, near 21st, Washington, D.C. Sept 4th, 1866. Bvt. Major J. M. Brown, Asst. Quartermaster, Washington, DC. Major: It is reported, that certain parties are committing considerable depredations on buildings on the corner of 24th and F Sts, recently turned over to your Bureau. I am directed by the chief Depot Quartermaster, to suggest, that steps be taken, to properly guard said buildings. I am Major, Very Respectfy Your obdt Servt., Jas M Moore Bvt Lt Col and Asst. Qr.
