showing the life of the Emperor - on large murals of silk ~ painted by 70 different artists & all looking much the same. A waste of time, for me, at least. Then Old Akasaka Detached Palace - Along the Palace moat to Kudan - Rikugien Garden & Ueno Park where we stopped for tea.
Asakusa Park, Ryogoku Bridge - Nihombashi [[Nihonbashi]] & Ginsa [[Ginza]] Sts - the Broadway of Tokyo, Kabukiza Theater, Honganji Temple, Central Market, Shimbashi Station - back to Tokyo Station. Came back pretty tired to hotel & received a call from Ruth Burbash, an Israeli, who is returning soon to Israel to be married. Will have dinner with her Sunday night. Hacohen called to say they had been here to look for me this afternoon & invited me to join them tomorrow morning at 8.30 for a drive to the country as well as for a trip on [[strikethrough]] Wednesday [[/strikethrough]] Tuesday to

Nikko, a famous resort, known for its authentic, old architecture, landscape & Temples. They are leaving Wednesday, midnight for Honkong, & I will go with them & stop off alone in Bangkok for a few days.

7. P.M. I had dinner alone in the hotel & called up Max Landau, of the Korean Reconst. Co - who said he would be glad to take me out. (His wife is in California & he leaves Monday for Korea). While waiting for his call, Ruth Berschak called to say she was in the hotel & came in for a visit. It appears she is an old friend of the Landaus & so all of us went to the Mayflower - a typical nightclub where the hostesses are paid to entertain the guests. There were some pretty girls amongst them - all dressed in the Japanese Kimono. The Jap. orchestras & musicians are very bad, listless, no particular feeling for rythm & harmony. The couples all danced like the Apaches. Hanging on to each other with
