Finally found the paper I wanted. Got 40 sheets for 800 yen - Approx. $2.20 and then went to the Shimbashi Restaurant, near the Shimbashi Station for lunch with Miya. Spacious, clean & elegant. The waiters bowing low. Each party has a private dining room (even for one person) with a large bowl of fresh flowers on the table, a decent well framed print on the wall, a couch, small sculptures, carpeted, etc. Was told all Chinese Restaurants have such private rooms as well as some Japanese. The Jap. restaurants however, have no chairs. One sits on mats in the traditional manner.

Back to the Imperial for tea with Miya & to write these few notes. Today, my activities are

catching up with me & I need a bit of rest. Will nap for a hour or so & take in a cinema "The Barefoot Contessa" which I missed seeing in New York after having dinner with Ruth Berkasch. I am disappointed at not having gotten tickets for the Kabuki - which is as crowded as every entertainment in the city. One has to reserve seats for everything here, literally, (10 P.M.)

The film was good, literate & well acted. Had dinner at Pete's. Reasonable & nice atmosphere. Had hot chocolate at the German Bakery  & took a little walk, seeing 5 places where Pachinko is played on one street. The fad has swept Tokyo. The Japanese have an insatiable zest for life - entertainment, sightseeing, & play. It is amusing to watch them at it. Even the Geisha girls
