What struck me is that more attention is given to a display of contemporary photography, well arranged, than to the work shown at this museum. For example there were several examples of the artists name mispelled (Vinsent van Gogh) dates informally crossed crossed out on cards, sculptures of different periods shown together (Egyptian & Greek) with no informative matter displayed at all. The Matisse show included several drawings, a dozen small paintings - none of them his important ones. What was of interest were the paper collages (like his series on Jazz) Beautiful in design & completely sympathetic to the character of Japanese Design. This brings me to the thoughts aroused apropos design at the Kabuki Theatre [[strikethrough]] which [[/strikethrough]] played only by men & called Noh. After being unable to obtain tickets during my stay, I took in a night tour (2,000 yen) which included a visit to the theater as well as to a Geisha party on the River
