This is a masterly analysis in my opinion. I wonder why it is that Greenberg himself chooses to paint in a weak impressionist manner. I remember seeing his canvases at the Kootz gallery & asking myself why he did not have the good taste to paint for his own pleasure & not to show the results publicly.

Dorothy gave a morning coffee party for me & had me meet nine women of the colony. Four of whom were Burmese. One was extremely decorative & will pose for me. The others, a school teacher, will have me visit the school & see the art classes & clubs as well.

After lunch, drove thru the wonderful markets to shop for material for a [[?]] & bag

Eve - dinner at home with Baird Helphreight interesting character. American lawyer from Illinois, who has a farm at Colaw with his wife Pat & five children. He has already doubled the investment on his farm in 3 years. Grows wheat, oats (for Turf Club) & barley. Necessary to Burmese, this dry farming as opposed to rice growing (wet farming)

Told us of his experiences when he was 20 yrs old, traveling thru Europe, Sweden. Russia. Entertaining & charming. Has invited Dorothy & myself to visit with them on our proposed trip to Colaw.
