Louis says it has a cumulative, powerful effect, which I do not doubt. The canvas he covers is a tremendous one. Still, the first 50 pages have convinced me he lacks style in his writing. Thursday. Dec. 9 - Morning, Garden with children. Drive through markets - wonderful types. Afternoon - one line drawing. Very difficult to find one's touch after so many months of not working.
