Platonic theory of eternal forms square, circle & cube. How to abstract a form is to universalize it - treating it with individuality is to give it expression - therefore expressionism. etc.

I was asked to lecture to their group (they all teach in the art school. I accepted - Think an illustrated talk would be most helpful to them - they don't know the difference between the 'isms' - & have much to learn. [[strikethrough]] before [[/strikethrough]] This explains their simple copying of poor Western illustration impressionism of a sort
         
5 P.M.

Just returned from Barr Street, art supply shop. - Five trips to have an easel made. Took all this time & as many explanations to show them how to make a sliding top that holds - longer pegs to hold canvas - bar across back of stretcher - how to make a frame.
