between their legs, with tremendous turbans of lovely fine colored cottons to tie up. - The better class Indian wearing western trousers mostly white with light colored loose shirts & colored turbans. The turban, however, with their wonderful beards & mustache accentuating their eyes & features make them romantic looking as can be. What a sight to see them bycicling along the lovely avenues with their sweethearts or wives sitting in front of them. (Some have a back sitting arrangement for the woman & some men manage a family - a woman in back & child or adult in front. The woman with their laughing big eyes, long black braids & flowing veils are beautiful. The color, is breathtaking. Because of the diversity of the costume, which is voluminous & includes veiling the head as well as the underbodice the startling color combinations are

endlessly intriguing. Then the poorer types. The women in the outskirts of the town, barefooted with wide silver anklets - no saris for them but wide swinging dancing petticoats, bodices just under the breast, sometimes sleeves & then the whole torso in back naked down below the hip - with the veil draped [[strikethrough]] cal [[/strikethrough]] carelessly over it, Many of them had their faces covered. Also in Old Delhi I saw many women wearing a wide shift of cream color linen, narrowing at the top of the head, like an embroidered top hat effect, & then a pleated tent extending down, over the face (like a Klu-Klux Klan) to the ankles. The variety & picturesque types I saw in the markets of Old Delhi were simply indescribable. The teeming life & movement of the crowds. The sacred cows everywhere on the streets, in front of all the buildings on the sidewalks, such as they are -.  The dark, dank alley ways, & the
