Bermuda  May 16

was a painter, they suggested my seeing the work of their outstanding Bermudian painter, Charles Tucker (teacher at their university) Tucker has only studied art for six years. (Five in London) Shown at the Royal Academy. Second & third rate water colors & oils. (Student works almost) His family has money. Lives with his mother in their own beautiful stucco house situated on a high cliff over the sea, with a big light studio which he designed. Has travelled in Europe. Spain, etc. His mother, fine old lady, dark as her son, pleasant [[??]] & [[??]]  - was friendly & hospitable. He invited me to a show of Bermudian artists at the Grand Central Station - opening May 24. 

Meanwhile, Catherine & Oliver had spent the entire day driving about with me to show me the sights of St. George & then back to my hotel. I was glad to have met them. It was the first time I had spent an intimate few hours with negroes

I have sent a cable (when I awoke this morning) home to expect me tomorrow - instead of Wednesday. Now that I am only three flying hours away from home - I can't wait to see my loved ones. Till tomorrow, then.

When I walked into the handsome green dining room this evening, the head manager of the room greeted me in most friendly fashion with a bow & a big smile.
