landed on the roof the Munsey building and called at the White House and met the President.
The next contract was at Scranton, Pennsylvania and here Strobel had trouble. Lincoln was not of age and we could not hold him to his contract. He therefore left us. I was in New York getting ready for an engagement when Strobel called by phone and told me the bad news and wanted to know what he was to do, I told him I would get him a pilot. Charles K. Hamilton was visiting with me at the time and I made a contract with him to fill Lincoln's place. We both went to Scranton and stayed there until the finish of the engagement then Lincoln left us.
We moved the #2 outfit to Montreal, Canada and I stayed there until Hamilton was able to fly. I returned to New York where I had an engagement to fly at the Polo Grounds. I did not meet with the success there that we anticipated. We found it was an easy matter to fly in and out of the grounds, and we anticipated a record crowd for the following Sunday. The police however, had other plans and wold not allow me to fly on Sunday for a profit.
