at my hotel and informed me that his company was interested in holding the meet at Dominguez and would go along with me if it was decided in their favor.

The meet progressed smoothly, each of the pilots taking his part seriously and doing his best to make the meet a success.

In addition to the $22,500 I had contracted for our pilots won an additional $5,550, making a total of $28,050. 

In addition to the Wright flyers we had Glen Curtiss, Charles Willard, Eugene Ely, James Radley, Hubert Latham and a number of amateurs. Glen Martin also appeared with a machine he constructed and with which he had taught himself to fly.

The meet opened with a large and enthusiastic crowd in attendance who applauded every event. 

The meet opened on December 24, 1910 with prizes offered for duration, speed, altitude, quick starting and accuracy in landing. As the meet progressed other events were added to the list such as bomb dropping and line crossing. As Martin was a home boy, the committee created a special prize for him.
