No. 4.

Opposite this page is a photograph of an Observation Balloon above the School at Langley Field Va.

During the World War a great many of this type of aircraft was manufactured, keeping seven or eight factories busy day and night for the duration of the war.

Since the war, both the Army and the Navy have ordered these balloons from manufacturers who remained in the business. This Business has proved to be of profit.

The Army have developed a new type of Observation Balloon which will replace all of the old type as the new balloon will be on the order of a small dirigible. It is reasonable to assume that after these balloons are once proved in practice, there will be a quantity ordered, and this should be quite profitable.

During the war the KNABENSHUE MANUFACTURING CO. with a factory at Northport L.I. manufactured and delivered to the Army, 25 Observation Balloons, one silk and rubber spherical and one experimental storage balloon, all of which were accepted and paid for. This business was profitable.
