UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR CIVILIAN CONSERVATION CORPS WASHINGTON August 8, 1941. AIR MAIL SPECIAL DELIVERY Mr. H. Clay MacBrair, Jr., National Park Service, Boulder City, Nevada. Dear Mac: Due to drastic reductions in the 1942 budget it was decided here to close up autogiro activity and store the machines at Manteo, North Carolina. I telephoned Mr. Alberry at Civil Aeronautics and he referred me to Mr. Fred Lanter who was of the opinion that your old position would be waiting for you on your return. Will you please see to it that the machine is packed in the car in such a manner that even though the railroad boys wreck the car the machine itself will not be hurt? I sent you a letter stating that another engine had been shipped from San Antonio and it would be necessary to get it by truck from Las Vegas. Be sure that this engine is included in the shipment. Hope to see you soon on your return to Washington. Sincerely yours, Roy Knabenshue. CC: Mr. Evison √ Mr. Knabenshue RK:hg
