4. By that time many of the renting organizations had moved or closed down.

5. We recently realized with some amazement that we brought in and spent about $ 134.000 during the year 1975-76 (counting all our budgets: the Woman's Building, the F.S.W., the Extension Program etc). This was a significant growth compared to the $ 47.000 of the previous year. Yet only roughly 15% of the 1975-6 budget came in from grants. We were astonished to find out the magnitude of these figures, since the Woman's Building is always running on a bare minimum funds necessary for its continuously growing operations, and much of the work is either volunteered or, at least severely underpaid. The highest salaries we have yet been able to allocate have been $6000 for a full-time year's work. As full-time feminists, we realize that we must work toward a solid financial ground, since the kind of energy and work needed to sustain an institution does not make it possible to hold an additional [[strikethrough]] full time [[/strikethrough]] job to earn one's living wages.

6. The "Building Women" concert was organized by women from the L.A. community and the Woman's Building: Olivia Records, Bobbie Birleffie, Kate McDonough, and Cheryl Swannack.
The performers, [[strikethrough]] who [[/strikethrough]] like the organizers, donated their work. They were: Holly Near, Lily Tomlin, Meg Christian, Margie Adam and Miss Alice Stone's Ladies Society Orchestra.

7. "The University as a Male Structure: An Authentic Case of Perversion," unpublished article at this point. (For information on the Workshop, see footnote no. 10.)

8. Arlene Raven, Notes on Feminist Education; unpublished.

9. Through the Extension Program we offer a wide range ofncourses and workshops taught by experts in their fields. One of the purposes of the Extension Program is to augment and complete the course offerings for the women in the F.S.W. For example, when two women dancers came to participate the F.S.W. last year, and we did not have a dancer on the F.S.W. staff, we scheduled additional dance classes in the Extension Program. When we plan the Extension Program, we take into account what gaps we might have on the staff, and try and fill them by inviting women to teach in the Extension Program. (Initially the Extension Program was coordinated by Meg Haarlam; over the last year, Helen Roth and I have been coordinating the Extension Program.)

10. The photographs described were made by Terri Hawthorne, who was one of the participants in a special ten-day intensive workshop, "Feminist Education: Methods and Techniques," held in June 1976. The Workshop was led by Arlene Raven, Sheila de Bretteville, Judy Chicago, and Ruth Iskin. It was [[strikethrough]] designed [[/strikethrough]] for women educators in higher education, and was the first time that we offered a workshop designed to share our findings about feminist education with other educators.
