General:
The Secretary of War directs that the following recommendations, made by a Board of Officers appointed to examine into the subject of precautions against damage from accidental fire, be forthwith carried out.

[[footnote 1]] "Campbell Hospital and Camp Augur.
Recommended that at least two large tanks or cisterns, holding 1000 barrels each, be built and kept filled by steam fire-engines, and that filled buckets be placed in every building."

There being great danger of the freezing of plugs, hydrants, and water kept in buckets, you will see that the greatest vigilance is practiced by those in charge of buildings, to remedy this as far as
