INSTRUCTIONS

1. VISION. For officers of the Reserve Corps, defects of vision must be corrected to normal by glasses.
Organic disease disqualifies. Visual acuity determined by Snellen test type. Each eye is examined separately from a distance of twenty feet. The minimum requirements are for the line of the army, 20/50 for the right eye and 20/100 for the left eye. Defects of vision resulting from errors in refraction, which are not excessive do not disqualify unless accompanied by organic disease.

2. COLOR PERCEPTION. Color blindness disqualifies.

3. HEARING. Applicant must hear a whisper at 20 feet in a quiet room. Each ear tested separately.

4. FIGURE AND GENERAL APPEARANCE. The various parts of the body should be well proportioned; head symmetrical, the chest developed and well formed, the abdomen lank, and the limbs shapely with firm, well-developed muscles. The face should indicate mental and physical health and vigor, no repulsive deformities, free from eruptions, characteristic appearance of the drunkard, or the peculiar sallow tinted and distinct hypodermic scars of the drug habitue.

5. WEIGHT. Marked disproportion of weight, over height is not a cause for rejection unless the applicant be positively obese.

6. HEIGHT. Minimum height 64 inches, with fraction of an inch variation allowed.
