Written at Hadley Field New Brunswick N.J. May 6. 1932 Dearest Mother: Every day, all day long, is Mother's Day as for as I'm concerned, but it seems to be growing customary for the sheepy public to fall for some special day to be known as such--principally because its good business for the merchants. Well, there's no harm done and it probably does make you conscience stricken if you don't correspond any ostener than I do. I love you just the same whether or not I write and tell you so...... The last time I sent word to you directly was from Hank Fords' Greenfield village and I hope you received the card from this wonderful place which I had opportunity to go through while in Dearborn getting the airplane looked over. If anyone wants to take a trip out that way I can heartily recommend the Ford plant and the Village as a sightseeing interest, the while stopping for a day or two at the Dearborn Inn which in itself would suit me for living purposes it is so charming and comfortable. The Inn, by the way is part of aa a chain run by New England people--for example the waitress I had came from Worcester and the supervisor from Mainne. The ground is owned by Ford and he furnished the Inn with royal good taste and style for period effect desired. The enclosed snapshots are some I took within a few weeks back. Pete had a hair wash and a few furls I guess, anyway they came out good and the one with Nanns Connery I'd like you to give or at least show to the Irving streeters because of the resemblance to Buster Connery. Ruth is taking pete over for his hospital experience tonight. Dr. Cott, who did my job, is going to do Peters too--Saturday morning at St.Vincents'. Ruth will stay at the hospital for the week necessary. We have confidence that all will be well. when I wrote to Bill lately I didn't mention this event and you are the only one to know of it. There is no particular reason not xxx to speak about it except that it doesn't do anyone any good to discuss the case, least of all the child himself whom we do not want to be made to feel that he is "different". It is possible that a second operation may be necessary, if not, then a minor adjustment later on will be performed. Pete is such a beautiful boy in every way that he deserves all the luck God will let him have. If anything is out of the ordinary I'll let you know, of course, otherwise you can rest assured that all is well. I hope you are all well in Framingham. Come down when you have a chance. The place has been so pretty lately that I'm realy craxy about it, with all the forsythia and shrubs in bloom, including, today and tomorrow, the short-lived Japanese cherry blossoming Much love from "your baby"
