Dear Raymond:

On account of few checks drawn during this month, was to get statement of account from Trust Company, one day sooner; this enables me to send statement at this time, also shoot some information, and, also ask for some.

Lill. is bad off as to funds she states, also thinks you might appreciate $250.00 ( that is $1000,00 liquidation) at this time have not talked with Henry about this yet; He will owe $102.45 on June 21st, which should come back if this liquidation is made. I am not suffering yet, but, wouldn't feel badly if received that amount at this time. Of course I told Lill. that we must conserve for Taxes and our agreement, as I don't think any one of us could pay the $50.00 per month each at the present writing.

Have a proposition on, through Walter Channing Company. to rent big-house for one year from July 1st. at $900.00 as is. In lieu of rental to be lost for month of June, if taken, request that tenant put up the Lally Columns, in shed and stable, as planned by us, public liability insurance through. We tried to get $100,.00 but find it can't be done. This client is renting agent for Atlantic Natl Bank Building in Boston, also does something for Boston Safe Deposit & Trust Co. and New England Trust Company. Now lives in Newton and states that he must cut his living expenses, as his income from rentals has shrunk. Understand this deal has hinged on letting of house now occupied by him in Newton. This would net us about $300.00 which is much less than should be earned on that class of property, but, we hope to let at that price if possible.

Took a flying trip to Montreal; started at 4 am Friday, arrived home on Sunday about 10 pm. Did not intend to stop in Sherbrooke, but arrived in Derby Line about noon and decided to stop for dinner in Sherbrooke, as we would strike the same road either way we went. Main reason for not wanting to stop was, that I didn't want to meet anyone on account of the short time. Went to Montreal Bank to check up on account, also to seeif the rate of exchange was any better, interest to amount of $8.23 was paid on April 30th; balance as of May 16th is $897.23. It was my hard luck to run in to Uncle Archie, who was coming in to cash the checks as I was leaving. Had a short talk with him about the rest of the folks, stated that "old man" Colbert, and Emerence were pretty good, but didnt think Mrs Sim. could hold out much longer. Met Paul, Gustave and Lawrette while on way back to, and outside of Hotel. Stamp tax on checks is now three cents instead of two. There is also a stamp tax of ten cents for unemployed with each pint of liquor you buy. Am of opinion if they get that tax here it will show good results.(But when?)
