Dear Billy:

Enclosed are the papers you sent in your last letter. Here's hoping you get a few pennies backon the Fed tax. As to the mortgage tax delinquents--that certainly is not so hot. I was fearful about this item and here's another big hope that it will turn out ok in the outcome. But you will undoubtedly have to keep after the gents or it'll be loss again. After listening to all this talk about scaling down debts etc it looks as though mortages and what you may have in the b ank may accordingly be cut as to principal. Everything from now on will certainly bear the closest watching to minimize expected loss according to the way I look at it.

My own tax blank went into the mail this pm and it gets my goat that I cant take losses but have to pay on salary just the same. Get you coming and going...

I'd rather have the FST or the Pub Ser in the box than a balance in a bank that had to ask help from the RFC. I think Roosevelt has done a splendid job so far don't you. He has been action personified and confidence is now apparently being restored in good fashion. I hope the Framingham banks opened as per schedule and one of these days you might drop a line telling me of the local situation.
Would have called you on the phone last Friday from the air, or from the ground at Boston if it hadn't been for the fact that I was too busy during the trip to do so. It was the roughest trip I ever had over several hours and most of the passengers were sick. Tough going especially in handling t e ship on the ground due to the gusty high wind.

Any decision on the blac ksmith shop yet?

One thing that looks hopeful we may get beer in a few weeks or sooner. Not that I care about a bottle of pap---if it hasn't any kick I'm going to stick to the home brew with a wallop that a friend of mine has been making right along. A lot of people will feel the same if they don't giev fair leeway.

On second thoughts I'd like to hold that mortgage data which I see is marked copy. Do you want it back?

Hope you are all well at the Centre and elsewhere. How is Henry feeling or what's he doing these days.

We are all well--but I have plenty to think about these days like others with some responsibility and no well defined path ahead. Tough going these years of depression eh?
