Enlisted in the U.S. Army, July 23, 1917, training in the Air Service on all types of aircraft in Canada, Texas and France. Commissioned 2nd Lieut., February 23, 1918. On active service with A.E.F., in France, from May 24, 1918, with Second Pursuit Squadron, under the Ace, Captain David E. Putnam. Promoted to 1st Lieutenancy and later to Captaincy. Made commanding officer of 22nd Pursuit Squadron. Accounted for
