take the Financial Aspect of Commercial Aviation as the example. Here is a comparison that is a bit different from what you offer in your prospectus arguments, but all this in print before the public, (and not too much, but just enough, quoted as "official from Washington") will pave our way.
Furthermore, the Smith Block office can well become the towns' well-[[?]] fount of aeronautical knowledge, by having on hand the latest publications and clippings about the game in general, and on vital subjects in particular. The so-called AIR SERVICE magazine, which is evidently the coming and lasting periodic[[?]] of its ilk, to my mind, is a good bet.
And we want to keep in touch with all the doings and race-promoting, etc of the American Flying Club, because, with its affiliated clubs, and its main organization, it is the big thing in the United States and is rapidly pushing the Aero Club, and the Aerial League and all those bush leagers out into the cold of oblivion.
As to a municipal landing field for the town-- let's have our company sick this thing. Even though Billy did ask around at my instigation some time ago, I think that what we'd best do is to enter the wedge of such a project by sending a copy of the War Dept. specifications to the Board of Selectmen, properly from our offices in the Smith Block. Then we can nurse the idea along until one day I'm sure we could get action on the matter, because sooner or later all over the country this matter of city aerodromes is going to take a stride a hundred times the healthy one now in progress. I have secured copies of the reuirements and I believe Fram. Is a trifle too hard up to subscribe to them right now. But suppose you send one copy with a letter from the company to set the ball rolling. Later on when planes are common occurences we can get after the matter in a publicity campaign. Keep the extra copy for similar action directed towards some other promising town, or for file. I can get extra copies for you if you need them. If we could land a couple of these municipal affairs through our companies[[?]] efforts it would give us a good name and some advertising in Director of Air Service circles which I could See to.
I am tickled to death with the plans and prospects you have outlined in recent correspondence and have nothing to say except you sure are two hustlers and that I'd like to be with you.... speaking of deaths at Kelly Field, you can bet it is Hell to be bumped offfat this stage of the game. My moral privately took a slump I'm willing to admit. And as for "cutting it out" believe me that I'll do what I can towards helping matters.....Your office must be O.K. That reference to Porters offer of space must make you laugh in the face of the much better bargain you are enjoying.....that's fine about the muster field, according to the Smiths' interviewwith Gen. Emery. And say-- 3500 for an Avro[[?]] through Mr. Will would be great if we could swing the deal in time!!! ..I've got a couple of Black Crosses, [[?]] tachometer and a few other articles in a trunk or closet in the hotel, which I will be glad to loan any exhibit for our office. See Bill and my mother about it.... The door sign is O.K....Dam but I'm glad about yourvisit to Perkins. Good beginning.. Ican't offer any advice relative to the stock because I am not well enough up on the stock end of it. I'm going to study it but I've had no previous study or experience in it so can't say beans about it.... If Luby won't do then he won't,that's all.Ask Bill to give a suggestion. I know of no rising young attorney outside of a couple here in the army... The idea of getting exclusive rights for aviation goods and equipment is naturally the logical development. That's rightfully part of hte business and will later on [[?]] mean branch stores in the larger cities.
Well, I haven't written a letter in ten days so I'll quit this book to see if I can still tell my girl that I love her.
Go to it, and continued wishes for good luck. I'm getting out a few more letters in kind over this busy Sunday...
