at New Haven where, with the exception of a few cephalopods, the entire Fish Commission collection of mollusca for the last twelve years remains.

The curator would call attention to the desirability of having at least a fair working series of the common species of east coast mollusks actually at hand in the National Museum for reference; without waiting until the whole of these gigantic accumulations are scientifically worked up. At present there is practically nothing from the east coast of the U.S. north of the Chesapeake, in the National Museum.

The collection prepared for the London Fisheries exhibition will be available on its return for exhibition in the museum. The oyster industry is especially well illustrated by it. The models of gigantic cuttlefish and Octopus are especially valuable for [[strikethrough]] public [[/strikethrough]] the instruction of the public.

The collection received form R. E. C. Stearns Ph.D. of the University of California and
