Dear Dad -
It is a cold rainy day and not flying this P.M. I was up this A.M. in some wind storm only three other machines out and I was up with a Lieut. Takeing a trial, he passed me o.k. and then it was called off for the day so I came in town and found your letter here. I am going to go out to the field tonight.
There are orders for myself and 6 others to be ready to move south at any moment. I went to the Mayor and asked him if I might take 3 days off and take a trip to Chgo while I had the chance, and just begged him permission and he is a very nice man and would.
