Aviation Salute On Sat., May 9
"Flight of Fancy - A Salute to the Cradle of Aviation Museum" will be held at Bloomingdale's in Garden City on Saturday, May 9. The day-long event will highlight Long Island's unique contribution to the world of aviation.
All day long at Bloomingdale's, a series of interesting color films - courtesey [[courtesy]] of Grumman - will be shown to visitors. Pioneer aviatrix Elinor Smith - Long Island's most famous flier - will be on the lower level on the store from 2 to 4 p.m. to sign her exciting new book, Aviatrix. World War II flying ace  - Long Islander Col. Robert Johnson will autograph Thunderholt, his incredible biography, in the book department from 12 noon to 2 p.m.
